Bangladesh Govt Pledges Relentless Effort on Cyber Security, Data Protec

The Government of Bangladesh is working "relentlessly" to ensure the data protection and cyber security of its citizens, according to the Secretary of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division, Shish Haider Chowdhury.

Speaking as the chief guest at a training workshop in the capital on Saturday, October 25, the ICT Secretary underscored the administration's commitment to safeguarding the nation's digital landscape.

The workshop, titled 'Cloud Computing for Industry/Businesses: Driving Digital Transformation and Cyber Security Measures for Industry/Businesses,' was hosted at the boardroom of the Bangladesh Chamber of Industries (BCI).

Secretary Chowdhury stated that the ICT Division is employing a collaborative strategy, engaging academics, the private sector, and the government to identify pressing issues and formulate the necessary laws and policies for solutions. He expressed confidence that the positive results of these coordinated efforts would be visible "very soon."

Furthermore, the ICT Secretary assured the business community of the Division's commitment to provide maximum cooperation and support to the private sector in the future.

In his address, the President of the Bangladesh Chamber of Industries (BCI), Anwar-ul Alam Chowdhury (Parvez), urged the industrial and business sectors to adapt swiftly to the rapid technological changes brought about by the age of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Mr. Chowdhury highlighted the transformative role of cloud computing in elevating global business practices. He emphasised that for domestic industries to remain competitive, they must increasingly rely on automation, data-driven decision-making, and cloud-based solutions.

He added a crucial caveat, noting that the greater the use of technology, the greater the corresponding cyber risks. These escalating threats, he warned, pose a constant danger to businesses, making the integration of robust cyber security alongside cloud adoption "extremely important."
