Draft telecom ordinance published; govt seeks feedback

The Posts and Telecommunications Division has released the draft “Bangladesh Telecommunications Ordinance 2025” for public and stakeholder review, posting the text on its website to inform and gather views.

A notice signed by the ministry’s public relations officer Muhammad Jasim Uddin was issued in this regard on Wednesday (November 5). 

According to authorities concerned, the proposal includes a prohibition on internet shutdowns and other fundamental, contemporary updates to existing laws and policies to bolster transparency, accountability and the protection of citizens’ rights.

Feedback may be submitted by email to secretary@ptd.gov.bd or by post to the Secretary, Posts and Telecommunications Division, Bangladesh Secretariat, Dhaka.

The ministry has requested that opinions be sent by Friday (November 15).
