Just Months Before Launch, iPhone 18 Pro Details Leak After Massive Hack
Apple is investigating a major cybersecurity breach at one of its key manufacturing partners after hackers reportedly leaked confidential information related to the company's supply chain and the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro.
According to Reuters, more than 630GB of data was stolen from Tata Electronics, one of Apple's largest manufacturing partners outside China. Documents allegedly posted on the dark web include sensitive details about Apple's manufacturing processes, suppliers, and components used in the iPhone 18 Pro.
The leaked information reportedly covers hundreds of individual parts, including chips used on the phone's main circuit board, as well as battery and camera components. The exposure could provide an unusually detailed look at Apple's supply chain, an area the company has traditionally kept highly confidential.
The breach also affected documents belonging to other Tata Electronics customers, including Tesla and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC). However, Reuters reported that much of the leaked material appears to be related to Apple.
Apple said it is working with Tata Electronics on long-term security improvements while investigating the incident. Neither company has disclosed how the breach occurred or whether customer data was compromised.
The leak comes at a sensitive time for Apple. The company has increasingly relied on Tata Electronics to expand manufacturing outside China as it diversifies its global supply chain. Industry observers note that exposing details about suppliers and components could weaken Apple's position in future negotiations with manufacturing partners.
Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and potentially its first foldable iPhone later this year.
