Elon Musk’s AI chatbot Grok is facing criticism after releasing the first seven minutes of an AI-generated video based on Homer’s ancient Greek epic, The Odyssey. Musk had previously announced plans for a historically accurate, full-length movie, but Grok is now presenting the released footage as the first episode of an Odyssey series.

According to a report by TechCrunch, the video was created in collaboration with Wonder Studios and director Dave Clark. It features AI-generated characters and scenes inspired by ancient Greece.

While the footage reportedly delivers some visually convincing moments, TechCrunch’s reviewer criticized its storytelling, dialogue, artistic depth, and lack of human emotion. The review also contrasted the project with Christopher Nolan’s live-action adaptation of The Odyssey, which emphasized real-world production techniques and large-scale filmmaking.
