Rockstar Games has pushed back Grand Theft Auto 6 to 19 November 2026, citing the need for extra time to deliver the polish fans “expect and deserve.”

The title had been slated for May 2026 after an earlier slip from late 2025.

In a note to players, the studio apologised for the longer wait and said it is “incredibly excited” for fans to experience Leonida, a Florida-inspired state that includes a modern Vice City, with protagonists Jason and Lucia.

The delay comes amid labour tensions in the UK, where more than 30 workers were dismissed on 30 October; a trade union alleges the firings were to stifle organising, while the company has said they related to misconduct. Protests were held outside offices in Edinburgh and London.

Online, reactions ranged from jokes to acceptance, with some saying they prefer a finished game over a rushed release.

GTA 5, launched in 2013, remains a top seller thanks to its online mode, underscoring expectations for the sequel.
