Grameenphone’s ‘Kagojer Kolom’ wins GSMA sustainability video award
Grameenphone has won a GSMA honour for its short film “Kagojer Kolom” (“The Paper Pen”), taking the Excellence in Sustainability Video Award at the GSMA Digital Nation Summit 2025 (ASEAN Edition) in Kuala Lumpur.
The film was selected from a shortlist of 17 entries after evaluation by a GSMA judging panel.
Sharmin Rahman, head of corporate portfolio, brand and marketing communication at Grameenphone, received the award on the company’s behalf.
The Digital Nation Awards recognise organisations that utilise digital technology to advance inclusion, sustainability, and innovation across Asia, highlighting how connectivity can deliver a positive social impact.
“Kagojer Kolom” profiles Nasima Akhter of Jashore, whose “Shuvo Eco-Friendly Pen” is designed so the seed embedded in the pen can be planted after use—an idea that has supported local livelihoods, encouraged greener habits and promoted women’s empowerment.
To celebrate the award, a Grameenphone team led by Chief Marketing Officer Farha Naz Zaman visited Nasima’s home and workshop in Jashore to recognise her community contribution. Zaman was appointed CMO, effective January 1, 2025.
Grameenphone thanked Nasima for her innovation and acknowledged Grey Advertising Bangladesh Ltd and Indie Reels for their creative partnership in bringing the story to life.
