New ROG Xbox Ally X20 Packs OLED Screen, Gold Design and AR Glasses
ASUS has announced a special anniversary edition of its handheld gaming PC lineup, introducing the ROG Xbox Ally X20, a premium bundle created to celebrate the 20th anniversary of its Republic of Gamers (ROG) brand.
The limited-edition device combines upgraded hardware, a redesigned OLED display, and a bundled pair of AR gaming glasses, positioning it as a collector-focused product aimed at enthusiasts and high-end gamers.
OLED Display and New Design
The ROG Xbox Ally X20 retains much of the hardware found in the standard ROG Xbox Ally X but introduces a new 7.4-inch OLED display.
According to ASUS, the screen offers a 1080p resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, up to 1,400 nits of peak brightness, and support for AMD FreeSync Premium Pro. The display also features Dolby Vision support, a VESA DisplayHDR 1000 certification, and Corning DXC anti-reflective glass. To mark the anniversary edition, ASUS has redesigned the chassis with a translucent black finish that exposes elements of the internal cooling system and processor. Gold-colored accents have also been added to distinguish the device from the standard model.
Upgraded Controls and Performance
ASUS has equipped the handheld with new TMR joystick technology, which the company says improves precision, responsiveness, and durability.
Other enhancements include an upgraded D-pad capable of eight-direction input, redesigned face buttons, and rubberized rear grips intended to improve comfort during extended gaming sessions.
Under the hood, the device is powered by AMD’s Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor, paired with 24GB of LPDDR5X memory and 1TB of PCIe 4.0 NVMe storage.
The handheld also supports Auto SR, a graphics-enhancement feature previously available only on Windows 11 Copilot+ PCs.
AR Glasses Included in the Bundle

One of the biggest additions is the inclusion of the ROG Xreal R1 Edition 20 AR gaming glasses.
The glasses feature a matching black-and-gold design and use micro-OLED technology to create a virtual 171-inch display viewed from a distance of four meters.
ASUS says the glasses support a 240Hz refresh rate, a 0.01ms response time, and native 3DoF head tracking. They connect directly to the handheld via USB-C.
Pricing Remains a Mystery
ASUS has not announced pricing or availability details for the ROG Xbox Ally X20.
However, the standard ROG Xbox Ally X currently sells for around $1,000, while the ROG Xreal R1 glasses are priced at approximately $849. Based on those figures, industry observers expect the anniversary bundle to approach or exceed the $2,000 mark.
The announcement highlights ASUS’s continued focus on premium gaming hardware as handheld gaming PCs become increasingly popular. With its OLED display, upgraded controls, and bundled AR accessories, the ROG Xbox Ally X20 is aimed squarely at collectors and gamers looking for a high-end portable gaming experience.
