Syed Mohammad Kamal Named President of AmCham Bangladesh for 2026-28
The American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh (AmCham) has officially installed its newly elected Executive Committee for the 2026-2028 term, with the new leadership pledging to deepen U.S.-Bangladesh business relations and strengthen policy advocacy efforts.
The installation ceremony was held on June 14 at the Sheraton Dhaka in Banani and brought together business leaders, diplomats, government officials, and members of the corporate community.
New Office Bearers
The newly elected leadership team is headed by Syed Mohammad Kamal, who assumes the role of President of AmCham Bangladesh.

Experienced Leadership Team
Kamal brings more than 35 years of experience across financial services, FMCG, remittances, and digital payments. During his career, he has held senior positions at Western Union, Berger Paints Bangladesh, and ACI Limited. He previously served as Vice President of AmCham Bangladesh and as a director of the Foreign Investors' Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Ala Uddin Ahmad brings more than 25 years of leadership experience across Asia and is widely recognized for his work in policy advocacy and investment promotion. He has held leadership roles within AmCham, FICCI, and the Bangladesh Employers' Federation.
Reza Ur Rahman Mahmud has over two decades of experience in finance, strategy, and public affairs, including leadership roles at DHL Express and Banglalink.

The newly installed committee outlined several priorities for the 2026-2028 term, including:

The leadership also pledged to build a more accessible and influential chamber that delivers greater value to its members and the wider business community.
Honouring Outgoing Leadership
Outgoing President Syed Ershad Ahmed reflected on the chamber's institutional progress during his tenure.
AmCham also recognized the outgoing Executive Committee and the members of its Election Board and Appeal Board with commemorative plaques for their contributions to the organization's governance and growth.
The event was attended by senior government officials, representatives from the Embassy of the United States in Bangladesh, business leaders, development partners, and members of the diplomatic community.
U.S. Ambassador to Bangladesh Brent T. Christensen expressed confidence in the new leadership and reaffirmed support for AmCham's efforts to strengthen bilateral economic relations between Bangladesh and the United States.
The evening concluded with musical performances featuring both American and Bangladeshi songs, celebrating the longstanding friendship and people-to-people ties between the two countries.
