Meta Platforms says it will invest more than $600 billion in the United States by 2028 to expand artificial-intelligence infrastructure and jobs, with a heavy focus on building “industry-leading” AI data centers, according to an official company blog post published last week.

The plan is framed as part of Meta’s push toward “personal superintelligence,” and is intended to help the U.S. maintain its technological edge while supporting local economies, the company said.

Reuters separately reported that the $600 billion figure—covering AI technology, infrastructure and workforce expansion over the next three years—was reiterated in company briefings and follows recent moves to accelerate data-center buildouts.

Those include a $27 billion financing deal with Blue Owl Capital for Meta’s Hyperion campus in Richland Parish, Louisiana, and a $1.5 billion data-center project in El Paso, Texas.

The pledge also echoes a headline-grabbing moment earlier this year when CEO Mark Zuckerberg mentioned the $600 billion sum during a White House dinner with former President Donald Trump—a remark that drew scrutiny after a subsequent “hot-mic” clip circulated online.

The company’s new blog post formalizes the commitment and outlines broader community and sustainability initiatives linked to its U.S. data-center footprint.

Meta has signaled that capital spending will remain elevated as it races to add compute capacity for training and deploying advanced AI models, in line with wider industry investment across hyperscale operators.
