Banglalink, Flosolar in MoU to supply network with 100MW solar power
Banglalink, the country’s leading digital operator, has signed a memorandum of understanding with Flosolar Solutions Ltd. to jointly develop a 100-megawatt solar power plant, advancing the operator’s renewable energy transition and climate resilience commitments.
Under the collaboration, Flosolar and partners will handle development, financing and operation of the plant, while Banglalink will purchase the output under a long-term corporate power purchase agreement (CPPA).
The green electricity will feed Banglalink’s nationwide telecom network—covering more than 15,000 BTS sites, data centres and a special-purpose vehicle (SPV)—to improve energy security and cut operating emissions.
Banglalink says the programme aligns with its plan to source 60% of total energy from renewables, reducing reliance on fossil fuels and supporting local communities.
Once operational, the plant is expected to avoid roughly 76,000 tonnes of CO₂ annually, marking a step-change in energy use across Bangladesh’s telecom sector.
“This partnership strengthens Bangladesh’s renewable ecosystem and can serve as a milestone for future large-scale green projects,” said Huseyin Turker, Banglalink’s Chief Technology and Information Officer. “With the right mix of technology, innovation and foresight, we can accelerate toward a low-carbon, secure-energy future.”
Mostafa Azim Qasem Khan, founder and managing director of Flosolar Solutions Ltd, said the project is designed to deliver a measurable solar solution through an innovative structure and long-term CPPA.
“It aligns with corporate social responsibility strategies and contributes to national climate goals,” he added.
Both companies framed the agreement as part of a broader effort to expand clean-energy use across Bangladesh’s digital infrastructure.
