Banglalink opens ‘Safety and Wellness Week 2025’

Banglalink, one of the country’s leading digital operators, has launched its annual “Safety and Wellness Week 2025” with simultaneous walkathons in Dhaka, Chattogram, Khulna and Bogura.

More than 560 employees took part in the initiative, which the company described as a shared commitment to health, safety and overall wellbeing.

In line with Banglalink’s goal of building an employee-centred workplace, this year’s theme is “Strength in Action, Care in Every Step.”

The focus is on developing healthy daily habits through awareness, fostering a culture of care in the workplace, encouraging cooperation among colleagues and promoting regular exercise for personal wellbeing.

Throughout the week, Banglalink has lined up a series of activities to promote wellness among staff. These include health check-ups, one-to-one consultation sessions, fire safety awareness programmes, live safety drills, mindfulness practices, stress management sessions and various participatory wellness events.

Each initiative is designed to encourage healthier routines, strengthen safety practices and support a more balanced and conscious way of living.

On Sunday morning, the Dhaka walkathon set off from Banglalink’s head office, Tiger’s Den, while participants in other cities started from their respective offices.

Employees walked the designated routes inspired by the message that small, intentional steps taken with goodwill and awareness can lead to a healthier life overall.

Banglalink Chief Executive Officer Johan Buse and members of the leadership team formally inaugurated “Safety and Wellness Week 2025” at Tiger’s Den. Their presence, the company said, reinforced Banglalink’s commitment to maintaining a safe, caring and supportive work environment.

Acting Chief Human Resources and Administration Officer Ruhul Kader said the walkathon had given the week a meaningful start.

“Safety and wellness are not temporary concerns; they are about the habits we build every day,” he said. “When our employees are supported in looking after their health and safety, the organisation as a whole becomes stronger.

Safety and Wellness Week has strengthened our mindset around taking care of ourselves, looking out for one another and building a workplace where wellbeing is naturally part of how we move forward.”

Banglalink said it remains committed to the safety and wellbeing of its customers as well as its employees. Following a recent 5.7-magnitude earthquake, the operator announced two hours of free calling for its users, allowing them to contact their loved ones.
