WhatsApp has become one of the most widely used communication platforms in everyday life, helping users stay connected with friends, family and colleagues.

However, messages, calls or spam from unknown or unwanted numbers can often become annoying and disruptive.

To address this, WhatsApp allows users to block such numbers easily. Once a number is blocked, it can no longer send you messages, call you on WhatsApp or see your updates.

There are two simple ways to block a number:

In the first method, open the chat of the unwanted number. Tap the three dots in the top-right corner of the chat window, select “More”, then choose “Block”. To confirm, tap “Block” again.

In the second method, go to Settings > Privacy > Blocked contacts, then tap “Add”. From there, find and select the unwanted number and choose the option to block it. This method allows users to block any number directly from the settings menu.

WhatsApp also offers a feature to silence calls from unknown numbers. The “Silence unknown callers” option improves privacy and call management by muting the ringtone for calls from numbers not saved in your contacts.

These calls are still recorded in the call list, allowing you to review them later if needed, while staying protected from spam and scam calls.

Taken together, WhatsApp’s block and call-silencing features help users maintain a safer and more peaceful digital space.

By using these simple tools, it is possible to minimise unwanted calls and messages and maintain better control over personal communications.
