Netflix is testing a new AI-powered feature called AI Discover, designed to help users find movies and TV shows based on their mood, interests, and available time. Announced on November 3, the experimental feature allows users to explore content through different themes, such as:
- Something light to watch
- Scare me
- Family movie night
- Something I can watch in a short time
Users can select a theme to receive personalized movie and series recommendations, along with related video clips. They can also explore more specific themes or choose a different option to start a new search. The feature includes options to play content, add titles to My List, and fine-tune recommendations by saving preferred suggestions or removing unwanted ones.
According to Netflix, AI Discover uses user-provided input to understand what viewers want to watch and improve recommendations over time based on their preferences. The feature is initially being tested in English on supported TVs for Netflix subscribers in the United States. The company plans to expand access to more users over the coming weeks.
