Microsoft has unveiled a special-edition Xbox Series X to mark the 25th anniversary of the Xbox brand, bringing back the iconic translucent green design that pays tribute to the original Xbox console.

Called the Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition, the console features a translucent green finish inspired by the classic “OG Green” color associated with the first Xbox. The matching controller also adopts the retro-inspired design, making it a collector-focused release for longtime Xbox fans.

According to Jason Ronald, Microsoft’s Vice President of Next Generation, the anniversary edition combines the familiar design elements of the original Xbox with the performance of the modern Xbox Series X.

The limited-edition console includes 1TB of storage and retains the same hardware capabilities as the standard Xbox Series X. However, several visual details have been customized for the anniversary celebration. The Xbox logo on the front lights up green when powered on, while a special 25th-anniversary emblem appears on the console’s exterior.

The accompanying controller also features nostalgic touches. Microsoft has brought back the original ABXY button colors and included bumpers inspired by the black and white buttons found on the original Duke controller. The controller’s transparent rear casing and battery cover reveal a classic Xbox logo inside the design.

Microsoft has also hinted at several hidden Easter eggs throughout the console and controller as a tribute to the Xbox community.

The Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition console and controller are scheduled to launch in November. However, Microsoft has not yet announced a specific release date or pricing details for the anniversary products.
