Google’s Gemini Service Halted by Global Outage
Google's artificial intelligence-powered assistant, Gemini, has experienced a major global service disruption. As a result, users across multiple countries are experiencing difficulties accessing the service on various platforms, including the web, Android, iOS, and Chrome.
The disruption reportedly began on Wednesday morning. Users attempting to log in or submit queries have been encountering "Something went wrong" messages and various error codes. According to the online monitoring platform Downdetector, reports of the issue began rising rapidly from the early hours of the day.
Google said the problem was first detected at 6:26 am Eastern Time in the United States. The company later acknowledged the issue at 8:40am, saying it was a "service disruption" rather than a complete outage, indicating that the service was only partially affected.
According to the company, engineers have identified the likely cause of the problem and are working to resolve it, with signs of partial improvement already emerging. However, no specific timeline has yet been provided for the full restoration of services. Google also said that no workaround is currently available. As a result, a large number of users worldwide are facing temporary disruptions.
