Apple brings AI editing features to Photos app
Apple has announced new AI-powered editing features for its Photos app at its annual developer conference. Powered by Apple Intelligence, these tools will allow users to easily adjust framing, perspective and unwanted elements even after a photo has been taken, making it simpler to refine images.
Reframe: Redesigning perspective
With the new “Reframe” feature, users will be able to modify a photo’s frame and perspective using AI. For instance, if an unwanted object appears above someone’s head in a shot, or a slight positional adjustment could improve the composition, the tool will help correct such issues. Users will be able to drag and reshape the image, with changes instantly previewable. If empty areas appear around the photo, generative AI will fill them in naturally.
Extend: Expanding the frame without cropping.
The “Extend” feature allows users to widen a photo’s frame so that additional space can be added without cutting out important elements. This makes it easier to maintain balance in images or straighten tilted horizons. Users will be able to pinch to zoom out and introduce new visual areas seamlessly.
Enhanced Clean Up tool with AI support
The existing “Clean Up” feature has also been improved. Users can now tap, brush or circle unwanted objects in an image, and AI will remove them while filling the space in a more realistic manner.
Apple’s new AI features are expected to make photo editing simpler, faster and more effective - especially for users who want high-quality results without relying on professional editing software.
