Grameenphone to deliver Starlink for enterprise via BSCL
Grameenphone has signed an agreement with state-owned Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited (BSCL) to provide Starlink next-generation satellite internet to its corporate customers, targeting sectors where round-the-clock connectivity, low latency and mission-critical uptime are essential but terrestrial infrastructure remains limited.
The partnership will allow Grameenphone’s B2B clients to maintain high-speed links in remote and hard-to-reach areas, and to use satellite connectivity as a resilient backup during fibre cuts, natural disasters or rural outages.
The move follows BSCL’s arrangements to bring Starlink’s service to Bangladesh and aligns with Starlink’s commercial launch in the country earlier this year.
The agreement was signed at Grameenphone House in Dhaka by Yasir Azman, Grameenphone’s chief executive officer, and Dr Imadur Rahman, managing director and CEO of BSCL.
Senior officials from both organisations attended, including Grameenphone’s chief business officer Dr Asif Naimur Rashid and BSCL executives Md Golam Sarowar (general manager, administration and procurement) and Shah Ahmedul Kabir (general manager, sales and marketing).
Grameenphone said enterprise users operating in remote energy fields and coastal or border zones would particularly benefit from the solution.
BSCL—operator of the Bangabandhu Satellite—has been collaborating with Starlink to establish satellite broadband services in Bangladesh, including proposals to host gateways at national ground stations.
Officials say combining Grameenphone’s network footprint with BSCL’s satellite expertise and Starlink’s global capability will set a new benchmark for enterprise connectivity, supporting innovation, operational continuity and long-term digital progress.
