Microsoft unveils Scout AI personal assistant for Microsoft 365 users
June 3 (TechWorld) - Microsoft has unveiled Scout, an artificial intelligence-powered personal assistant designed to automate workplace tasks and adapt to user work patterns within its Microsoft 365 ecosystem, the company said.
Microsoft said Scout is intended to function as a personalised digital assistant that improves over time by learning from user interactions and preferences across workplace tools. The development comes amid growing interest in agent-based AI systems, including third-party projects such as OpenClaw, which has drawn attention in the technology industry for its autonomous task-execution concepts.
The company said Scout operates across desktop and web environments and integrates with Microsoft 365 services such as email and calendars. It is designed to handle tasks including scheduling, meeting preparation and workflow organisation.
Users will be able to customise their assistants, assign names and provide step-by-step instructions, allowing the system to refine its behaviour over time. Microsoft said the assistant learns from user interactions to support more context-aware task execution.
According to Omar Shahine, Scout is designed to reflect different working styles by translating user behaviour into system memory and capabilities.
Microsoft said Scout includes security and governance features such as policy-compliance checks and audit logs intended to monitor and review system activity.
The assistant is currently available through a pilot programme and will require a subscription to relevant Microsoft services, the company said.
